Do Not Rest In Peace
Jan 20, 2003
Do Not Rest In Peace.
Do not rest in peace, my dauntless, defiant daughter.
You were never lost for words in life,
so why be silent now?
Rattle chains! Slam doors! Moan, groan, shriek!
Do what you can, what you must.
Those smooth-tongued, business-suited pharmaceutical robots
sold your years of fun and love and living
for profit, greed, sales figures.
They transplanted their poison not only into
your veins, your mind, your heart, but also
into the veins, the minds, the hearts
of we who loved you.
And you, who loved so deeply and so knowingly and so kindly,
would doubtlessly protest more vehemently
at the staining and damning of our lives
than at the loss of your own.
So shriek, rattle, haunt as long and loud as you can,
And my heart and mind will join you
To protest your loss.
