Comforting Words of Verse
Oct 08, 2002
These are just few words of verse which I find to be of comfort in those dark hours. There are also some verses which I created in honour of my son, Elliott, and his Angel siblings...
I would be so honoured to share them with you...
How very softly you tiptoed into my world,
Almost silently and only a moment you stayed,
But what an imprint,
Your footprints have left upon my heart.
Dorothy Ferguson

Just for a While
Just for a while you had a shining dream,
Then darkness fell.
All around you, sadness and despair,
No light to guide you; no laughter there.
Just for a while, I was your hopes fulfilled,
Then hope was gone.
My soul released from it’s imperfect shell,
Saw your tears and caught them as they fell.
It heard your voices, sweet and warm,
It felt you touch and stroke my tiny form.
Like butterfly that lives and dies in just one day,
I left the world and gently flew away.
Just for a while, I toughed your lives with joy, and then with pain,
But don’t be sad, and grieve each coming year,
Just hold each other close and say
For just a while - our son was here.
Bette Buckle
~
And at night you will look up at the stars.
My star will be just one of the stars, for you.
Therefore, you will live to watch all the stars in the heavens.
In one of those stars, I shall be living,
In one I shall be laughing.
And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows),
You will be content that you have known me.
Antoine de St Exupery

You never said ‘I’m leaving’,
You never said ‘Goodbye’,
You were gone before I knew it,
And why, God only knew why.
A million times I’ve needed you,
A million times I’ve cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place,
That no child could ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of me went with you,
The day God called you home.

You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
My frame was not hidden from you.
You are familiar with all my ways.
You perceive my thoughts from afar.
Psalm 139
~
Gracious Father, in darkness and light,
in trouble and in joy,
help us to trust your love,
and to know you will never leave us,
and enfold us within your love and care,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

For Elliott
We knew you were too special,
To live with us today,
So when God called our little one,
He called you on your way.
They say the sun shines brightly,
On those He loves the best,
We know you’ll light up Heaven above,
As you’re peacefully called to rest.
So, fear not, Elliott, our darling son,
Please don’t feel sad or blue,
Because on your journey to eternal life,
Our love will walk with you.

Our Son
These words are inscribed on Elliott’s Memorial Vase,
which takes pride of place at his resting place in the Cemetery
with love from his Mummy and Daddy:
Cradled for moments,
Loved forever.
Always cherished,
Forgotten? Never!
Words by Elliott’s Mummy, Lynda
~
Our Brother
These words are inscribed on Elliott’s Memorial Vase,
which takes pride of place at his resting place in the Cemetery
with love from his siblings:
A Tender hug,
A softly blown kiss,
For the brother we love,
And eternally miss.
Words by Elliott’s Mummy, Lynda
for and on behalf of Elliott’s sisters, Chloë and Phoebe

In Remembrance of Elliott
This is the verse I had inscribed into the
Book Of Remembrance which is held at
Rosemary Suite at Leeds General Infirmary, England,
where Elliott was born sleeping:
A beautiful son,
Our little boy,
A little treasure,
Our pride and joy.
Born asleep to eternal rest,
Lord, may his slumbers be heavenly blessed.

Angel Babies
Angel babies,
In Heaven above,
In God‘s care,
Wrapped in our love.
Angel babies,
You’ll never know,
Just how much,
We miss you so.
Angel babies,
Spirits set free,
To roam the skies,
For eternity.
Angel babies,
Though we’re apart,
You’ll always remain,
Deep within our hearts.

My Stars At Night
Your tiny form, a boy or a girl?
I sometimes never got to know.
These aching arms I have to bear,
And the pain will never go.
My womb feels barren and empty,
There’s no pregnancy to face.
Another baby nestling there,
Could never take your place.
A tiny crib stands empty,
I never even got you home.
Instead God called you to his arms,
To keep you as his own.
So now I look into the sky at night,
And wonder where you all are,
And then I see you’re not far away,
In fact you’re the brightest stars!
Words by your Mummy, Lynda

A Tiny Bud
A tiny bud,
Lent, not given.
To bud on earth,
And bloom in Heaven.
