My Little Angel Makes Clouds
Dec 06, 2001
My Little Angel Makes Clouds
To my wife and to parents everywhere who have ever lost a child
Copyright words and music by Monty Huffman November 21, 1995
Cotton clouds pure and bright, heaven's
ships, dressed in white,
Filled with mem'ries they gently sail by.
I recall how at three, with his mother and me,
He would watch for parades in the sky.
Playful tigers and whales, alligators and snails,
Fat raccoons and big circus clowns.
I remember the time, his hand slipped into mine.
He said, "Daddy, do angels make clouds?"
"I believe angels make clouds in the sky.
They mold them like playdough and stack them up
high
I'd swoop up to join them, if I could just fly,
I'd help all God's angels make clouds".
Overnight he turned five, filled with laughter
alive,
Catching lizards and climbing tall trees.
But he lived with his eyes always fixed on the
skies,
Seems he saw things that others don't see.
Angels up in the sky, said it rains when they cry
And thunders when they play too loud.
His best time of day was at sunset. He'd say,
"Daddy, that's when the angels paint clouds."
"And I believe angels make clouds in the sky,
Then splash them with color and hang them to dry.
Children in heaven, if they'd like to try,
Can help all God's angels make clouds."
On my knees at his side, when at seven he died,
I prayed, "Thy will, not my will be done."
It was there I realized, he belonged to the skies.
"Father, please take good care of my son."
Angel wings filled the air. I knew Jesus was
there
"Son, goodbye. You've made me so proud."
As they led him away, I could hear his voice say,
"Lord, I really would like to make clouds."
Now, I believe angels make clouds in the sky,
A playground in heaven for children who die.
Their smiles form the rainbow, when storms have
passed by.
They help all God's angels make clouds.
Children help angels make clouds in the sky.
I watch for his face in the shapes drifting by.
I'm going home to that land, by and by,
Where my little angel...my special angel...my precious angel...makes clouds.
