Giving Thanks

Thank you God for giving me a child.
For feeling the pain of my child's death.
Pain means that I am still alive.
It means that I loved and can feel the loss.
Thank you God for friends and family.
They give me encouragement and support.
When I am so very weary and down,
They pick me up and lighten my load.
God, I thank you for the blessings you give me.
Help me to see and appreciate what I have been given.
Help me to have a grateful heart.
Help me to not take these gifts for granted.
God, you gave me the gift of a child.
You took him away and my heart breaks.
Help me to understand and to accept.
Help me through the days of deep anguish.
Lord, I am so very weary.
The load seems too much to bear.
Yet I still need to give you thanks.
You allowed me to have this child in my life.
I give God thanks.
