I Know How You Feel
Sep 05, 2002
I Know How You Feel
I know how you feel
I know what you're going through
I lost, a mother, father, husband, etc.
Empty words, you can't begin to know
How do you explain the loss of a child
What it does to your insides
How does one deal with the knowledge
You will never see or touch him again?
Family gatherings leave a vacant place
A void that cannot be filled
This was a child of my heart
You don't understand
I carried him, raised him, tried to teach him the right way
he was a part of me, now that part is gone
I've lost parents, a child is much different
I know what I feel, you cannot
Sleep is my safety harbour
I struggle to get through each day
I thank God for friends who will listen
For friends who truly care
In the beginning you are surrounded by love and sympathy
After awhile people are bored by your grief
They have moved on and expect you to do the same
And with moving on there is still pain.
No, you don't know my grief
It is only owned by me
There is no expiration date on it
It will go on to eternity
I know how you feel
No! You certainly don't!
