Missing You

Missing You
LindaC

A silent cry for help,
The nights are ever so long.
Daytime masks the feelings of gloom
Till eve steals in softly.

Why did you have to go?
Why do I have to stay?
I have so much pain,
I don't understand.

Where did we fail you?
Was there anything we could have done?
Guilt festers in my heart
And I feel I am to blame.

Friends don't understand.
You made your choices.
And now I am left behind
To deal with all the sorrow.

Where do I go from here?
Is there any safe harbor?
I put up an invisible shield
And allow no one access.

I ask what have I done to deserve this?
Why were you taken away?
When will time heal my wounded heart?
And when will I see you again?

You are my son and I love you.
I hate what the drugs did to you.
Crying is all I seem able to do.
And once again I drown.
